Bobby Madden will be the referee in charge of the upcoming Celtic and Rangers Scottish Cup clash at Ibrox.
Madden was the ref who officiated the previous derby at the home of our rivals in January, sending off Nir Bitton.
David McGeachie and Graeme Stewart have been appointed as his assistants for the upcoming match, with Kevin Clancy serving as the fourth official.
Madden has been something of a jet-setter this season despite the global pandemic, taking charge of matches in Greece and Switzerland over the last few months.
In February he was forced to stand down from a Ross County v Celtic match in Dingwall at short notice after coming into close contact with another official on one of these trips [STV].
No such dramas this time I’d expect! That’d be quite the storyline considering the current comments being traded by Celtic and Rangers in the lead up to the fixture.
Madden has also officiated Celtic matches against St Mirren and Hibernian this season.
He is considered to be one of the better referees in Scotland, so while Celtic supporters will always have suspicions of Scottish FA officials, it could be worse.
We’ll see how the match pans out!
