Celtic’s French striker Odsonne Edouard is not taking part in intense training sessions whilst on international duty as he manages a thigh injury, the Daily Record reports.
Edouard has missed Celtic’s last two fixtures with the problem, but he still travelled to team-up with the French under-21 squad.
However, the report discloses that Celtic’s medical staff are in constant contact with their French counterparts and are being updated on the injury situation as result.
Unlikely to feature for international side
The report concludes that French coach Sylvain Ripoll has been keeping a close eye on Edouard. As a result he has not taken part in any intensive training sessions, and is likely to miss the game against Georgia on Friday.

Would Celtic have preferred it if Edouard had not travelled at all, and treated his injury in Glasgow? Perhaps. However, it is no real surprise that Edouard travelled to France. After all, he has been in great form for the French under-21 side since he made his debut.
The French staff probably also wanted to examine Edouard’s injury for themselves, and see if there was any chance he could feature against Georgia.
Next game may come too soon for striker
France’s under-21 side are in action again on Monday, against Azerbaijan. You have to imagine that game has also come too soon for Edouard.

All Celtic fans will be hoping is that the injury clears up soon and Edouard is back in action for the Hoops with some big games on the horizon.
Edouard might have only missed two games with his injury. However, it has proved to be costly, as one of those was the Champions League qualifier defeat to Ferencvaros. Would Celtic have progressed in the tournament with Edouard available? Who can say, but the team would have had a much better chance with him in it.
For now, we must wait to find out when Edouard will return to the Celtic side. At least the club are well-aware of how he is progressing in France.
In other news, Celtic’s interest in Omar Colley could have consequences for two Hoops players.
