Celtic attacking midfielder Ryan Christie is a major injury doubt for tomorrow’s match at home to Motherwell.

Neil Lennon’s team take on the Steelmen in the Scottish Premiership, hoping to follow up Tuesday night’s win with another victory.

The Celtic manager will likely not be able to call upon one of his favourite players however.

Lennon said in today’s press conference: “Ryan Christie is a big doubt. He rolled his ankle. We’re going to give him as long as we can but he’s a doubt for tomorrow.”

Christie has been criticised by Celtic supporters for his performances this season. However, he remains one of the manager’s go-to stars and his absence will hamper selection tomorrow.

Mohamed Elyounoussi is the most likely candidate to come back into the team at Christie’s expense if he doesn’t make it.

Ryan Christie at Celtic crossroads

The Scotland international is one of the Celtic players whose contract expires in 2022. With no sign of him putting pen to paper on a new contract, the club faces a big decision on his future this summer.

Despite a poor season, the midfielder has still created 11 goals this season, as well as scored four.

However, that’s a significant drop off from his recent campaigns in a Celtic shirt.

Neil Lennon has previously admitted the player sees himself playing at a higher level, stating in November: “Ryan has also said he would like a different challenge at some stage in his career. Talks are ongoing between the club and his representatives.”

The stars appear to be aligned on an exit from the club before too long.

In other news, Darren Moore has been talking up Celtic teenager Scott Robertson.
