Celtic’s recent 1-1 draw with Hibs saw a midfield battle define much of the game. That battle was between former Celt Scott Allan, and current Hoops captain, Scott Brown.

As for who came out on top that day, it could be argued that the honours were even.

The pair know each other very well from their time together at Celtic. Bain recently appeared on the PLZ Soccer show, and discussed what he noticed most about his recent duel with the Hoops captain.

“A good relationship”

“Obviously I’ve got a good relationship with Scott away from the park” Allan said.

“We didn’t say a word to each other the whole game to be fair, and then after it, it was all back to normal” he concluded.

Allan’s comments show how seriously Brown takes every game he plays in. Even though the duo are friends, Brown is all focus when it comes to the game. That is why he didn’t speak a word to his friend.

Brown’s intensity and focus are a big part of why he has been so successful at Celtic Park. He is set to have another battle with Allan sooner rather than later.

The duo will face off once more in the Betfred Cup semi-final next month.

That game could be defined by Brown and Allan’s battle in the middle of the park. Should the Hoops skipper come out on top, then the Hoops could be in their fourth successive Scottish league cup final.

No doubt the Hoops skipper will be completely focused once more when he comes up against his former team-mate at Hampden.
