Scott Brown has admitted that the reaction from his teammates when going a goal down to Sparta Prague wasn’t good enough, the Daily Record reports.
The Hoops had actually started the Europa League clash in quite well, before the team fell to pieces after Sparta took the lead.
Celtic eventually lost the game 4-1, and Brown has disclosed that the reaction from his teammates just wasn’t fitting for a team like Celtic.
“We didn’t recover well”
“It wasn’t a team performance. It was a group of individuals, it wasn’t good enough from start to finish, and we got what we deserved. We started off not too bad. Then we lose a goal and I think everyone’s heads went down from there, and we didn’t recover well” Brown said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
Those comments have to be a real concern to any Celtic fan. How is it that a team, who cruised to a win over Aberdeen last weekend, and be so fragile after conceding the first goal?
This is a Celtic team that has won the last 11 domestic trophies in a row. There is no way that it should be going to pieces the way it did after conceding one goal.
Few players coped with the situation
It should have the confidence to come back and storm to victory, like Celtic have done so many times in the past. However, the only players whose confidence didn’t seem to be affected by giving away the goal were Diego Laxalt, and Leigh Griffiths.

Alarm bells have to be ringing about the nature of the reaction to the opening goal. Neil Lennon might be getting plenty of stick at the moment, but he can only do so much. The players have to improve, and fast.
It is unfathomable that in such a big season for Celtic that the players can’t even handle going one goal down. That needs to change as soon as possible.
In other news, Diego Laxalt’s performance against Prague was hailed by some Celtic fans.
