Celtic captain Scott Brown says that the Hoops have been working on some new formations during the international break.

Retired international Brown was one of the few faces left at Lennoxtown over the past ten days or so.

But while most of his team-mates played around the continent, the veteran midfielder says the rest of the squad were working hard with the next month in mind.

“We had a couple of days off, let the legs recharge,” he told the press, as shown on the club’s official YouTube channel.

“But we also had a few days hard running, a few hard sessions as well.

“Most of all it’s about how we’re going to play. Different formations, how we’re going to build up from the back, how we’re going to counter attack teams, how we’re going to press teams.

“For us it was good to recharge the batteries and go on now. We’re looking forward to the next month before the next international break.

“Hopefully we can get all the games in and get some results and good performances as well.”

Brown has hinted at a formation change against County

Now would seem like the perfect opportunity for Neil Lennon to switch up formations and go back to the 3-5-2 that was so successful at the start of the year.

We’ve struggled, especially on the road, so far this season and now have the personnel to play a back three.

Shane Duffy hasn’t come to sit on the bench, while Christopher Jullien and Kristoffer Ajer have been regulars for over a year.

We also have Albian Ajeti getting further up to speed with every passing day. His inclusion in the Swiss national squad suggests he’s more than ready to partner Odsonne Edouard in a front two.

Brown’s admission that they squad have been working on “different formations” is a pleasing one.

It suggests that Neil Lennon is well aware of the changes he needs to make – and that he’s been using the break to put some of those ideas into practice.

Perhaps Saturday is going to be the start of a brand new exciting Celtic. A swashbuckling 3-5-2 Celtic.
