We’ve written on 67 Hail Hail in sympathy of Shane Duffy and his Celtic situation before.

It’s been a difficult 12 months for him. His off the field problems, combined with an emotional connection to the Bhoys, has undoubtedly been hard to deal with.

However, his latest display for the club is proof enough that someone needs to show leadership and take him out of the team for good.

He simply isn’t performing to the required standard. It’s hurting Celtic now. It’s hurting supporters.

Duffy was dire against Livingston today, there’s no real way to get around it.

I’d love to be writing in support of his latest display, his clean sheet and how it provides some hope he can turn his Celtic career around.

Let’s be real though, that just isn’t going to happen. There’s more chance of winning ten-in-a-row.

When it gets to the point of feeling sorry for players rather than wanting them to come good, you know the situation is beyond redemption.

Shane Duffy needs to be told he doesn’t have a future at Celtic and focus on rebuilding his career elsewhere.

He might be a better fit at an English Championship team or a defensive-minded side in a top-flight league somewhere.

The Republic of Ireland captain just doesn’t fit Celtic and it can’t go on.

I’m not sure why we didn’t invest more game time in Stephen Welsh today, but that’s what needs to happen from now on.

Persisting with Duffy is only going to lead to more Celtic struggles and nobody wants to see him go through that.
