Celtic began their Europa League group stage campaign with a creditable 1-1 draw against Rennes. One of the main reasons for that was the performance of Christopher Jullien. The £7 million signing from Toulouse turned in one of his best performances in a Celtic jersey.
He coped with all that the Rennes defence could throw at him, and looked like the player Celtic spent so much money on. He looked solid in the challenge as well, which is obviously very important for a centre-back.
One fan described player as ‘brilliant’
Celtic fans on social media were impressed with the centre-back’s performance. One fan declared his performances as ‘brilliant’. Whilst another thought that he was ‘strong in his defending’.
Here are some of the best reactions from social media to Jullien’s performance:
That’s what 7 million gets you. Brilliant fae Jullien

Jullien looks set to be a mainstay in the Hoops side for a long time to come with his high standard of performances.
Hoops boss needs to find regular partner for defender
Celtic boss Neil Lennon will have to find a regular partner for Jullien in the Hoops defence. Kristoffer Ajer is possibly the number one choice, but he performed poorly against Rennes, giving away the penalty which gave Rennes the lead.
Celtic will be pleased with Jullien’s performances so far though. If he keeps up his level of performances this season, the money Celtic have paid for the player will look like a bargain.
The performances could attract attention from clubs if they continue in an upward trajectory. Celtic will be hoping that isn’t for a good while yet.
