Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths found himself back in amongst the goals for the Hoops on Saturday evening, helping Neil Lennon’s side progress in the Scottish Cup with a 2-1 victory over Partick Thistle.
His close-range finish early in the match sent us on our way to victory in a tie we never looked like losing.
He looked absolutely delighted to be on the scoresheet and rightly so.
The striker’s last goal for the club heading into the Firhill clash had come way back in August against Motherwell, with fitness issues and form keeping him out of Lennon’s starting eleven for the most part.
Given the opportunity to play Odsonne Edouard, Griffiths took his chance with aplomb and he now has a great chance of playing more during a heavy upcoming schedule of fixtures.
The arrival of Patryk Klimala had raised question marks about his immediate and long-term future at Celtic Park but, for now, it appears he is going absolutely nowhere.
If Lennon and his staff can keep the player at peak fitness and feeling confident, he could prove to be a crucial weapon in our upcoming chase for trophies.
Griffiths has been on receiving end of his fair share of criticism this season for lacklustre performances but there’s no doubt that some Celtic fans were excited to see him contribute meaningfully this weekend.
This lot have taken to social media this weekend to share their thoughts on the player’s display…
Absolutely brilliant to see Leigh Griffiths getting back among the goals. Hopefully that will kick him on for the rest of the season.

If Griffiths gets back to banging them in week in week out it would be class. As long as he’s at the club and contributes he should be backed. Still a section of the support not even wanting him here. Madness.

Training match for us in the end. Pathetic penalty decision. Rogic was outstanding, good to have him back. Thought Griffiths done well.
