Celtic weren’t at their best against Hamilton on Wednesday night. They needed a last minute winner from Scott Brown to defeat the struggling Premiership side 2-1, only a minute after Hamilton had equalised. It was certainly a dramatic night, and a victory that wins titles.

One man stood out for the Hoops though, and it is a player who has been in excellent form – Ryan Christie. He had scored 15 goals before the game, and his first-half strike was his 16th strike of the season. That is a record a striker would be proud of, never mind an attacking midfielder.

Some Celtic fans on social media were delighted with Christie’s performance, and his excellent scoring run. One fan claimed that the player should be given a ‘lifetime contract’ at the club. That is a move that would be agreed with by the majority of Hoops fans.

Here are some of the best reactions from social media to Christie’s performance:

Christie has been at the heart of Celtic’s excellent run of form, and he will be vital for the Hoops in the Betfred Cup Final against Rangers on Sunday.

Now that the Hamilton game has been and gone, all attention will turn towards the first domestic final of the Scottish season.

Winning goal in cup final two years in a row?

Christie was the player who scored the winning goal in the final last season, and it would not be a surprise if he did the same this season.

Hopefully he plays for the Hoops in the attacking midfield role, where he has thrived this season. However, even when playing on the wing he managed to find the back of the net, like he did against Hamilton. That shows you how good a player Christie is, that he is able to play well even when not in his best position.

He will be one of the players that Celtic fans will be counting on to make it 10 domestic trophies on the spin. Hopefully he scores for the fourth game in a row at Hampden Park.
