Celtic defender Jeremie Frimpong produced another fan-pleasing, dynamite display for the Hoops this weekend, helping Neil Lennon’s side into the Scottish League Cup final.
Celtic progressed after a 5-2 rout of the Edinburgh side and can now look forward to facing Hearts or Rangers for the chance to win yet another trophy in Scottish football.
No other team in the country has won silverware since 2016.
Lennon’s call to include Frimpong was a big one. It’s not often players with such a lack of experience are trusted to compete at the national stadium in a big semi-final or final.
However, the youngster had earned his spot with some dynamic displays over the last few weeks. He didn’t disappoint again on the right flank. His energy, skill on the ball and defensive attributes combined to see him emerge as one of our top performers of the evening.
Still just 18 and having just four senior appearances to his name, he’s keeping Hatem Abd Elhamed and Moritz Bauer out of the team on merit right now.
It really would be no surprise to see him come back into the side next weekend at home to Motherwell. That’s the next match he’s eligible for.
These fans were absolutely delighted with his Saturday display, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts over the last 24 hours…
