One notable aspect of Celtic’s 2-1 Europa League win over Lazio was Hoops boss Neil Lennon’s decision to select Jonny Hayes in the starting line-up.
Hayes got the nod to start over summer signing Greg Taylor in Rome, in a move that may have surprised some Hoops fans. Lennon has always had faith in the player though. His decision was vindicated as Hayes had arguably his best ever night in a Celtic jersey in the victory.

Hayes might not be selected for every Celtic game. It can be hard for a utility man to be selected for every game. However, as has been pointed out by some social media comments, he always gives his all when he does play.
Manager believes in player’s ability
It is a good sign for the player that Neil Lennon didn’t have any qualms about starting the player in Rome. That shows that he believes in his ability as a player.
Hayes is currently in the last year of his Celtic contract. The deal expires at the end of the season. However, after his performance in Rome, you imagine that most Celtic fans would be pleased to see the player extend his time with the club.
