Celtic have overcome their first big challenge of the domestic season with a 2-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox.

A lot of pressure was on the Hoops heading into the encounter. However, Neil Lennon’s men showed composure, discipline and a touch of class to pick up all three points.

It was Odsonne Edouard’s cool finish from a Mikey Johnston through ball that sent us towards the win, to the delight of 800 away supporters in the stadium and the rest of us watching on from home.

Jonny Hayes would later kill it off in stoppage time after a breakaway counter-attack.

Much of the plaudits must go to Celtic’s defence though, who guarded Fraser Forster’s goal superbly throughout the 90 minutes.

Rangers were frustrated and limited to just a few half chances thanks to a strong and committed defensive line.

One of the top performers within that unit was Nir Bitton, playing at centre-back for the afternoon.

The Israeli international was class on the ball as well as being assured in the tackle and block while on the pitch.

Unfortunately his match was cut short just after the hour mark due to an apparent hamstring injury. Up to that point he was comfortably on his way to a man of the match display.

Hopefully he’s back in action as soon as possible because he’s a solid and versatile option in the squad.

Considering we are struggling for injuries a bit in centre-back position we really needed him to step up today. It’s fair to say he delivered.

Fans were certainly impressed with his performance at Ibrox, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts…
