Celtic faced a problem when Odsonne Edouard was ruled out of the Europa League match against Rennes. They would have to deal with their best striker not playing. Other players would have to step up and do the job in Edouard’s absence.

Thankfully, some players did. Lewis Morgan and Ryan Christie scored for the Hoops in the first-half.

One player who stood out for the Hoops though was Olivier Ntcham. The major winner against Lazio in Rome played in an advanced midfield position and was at the heart of all that was good about Celtic’s performance, in the Hoops’ 3-1 win, as he turned in a dynamic performance.

He drove forward at times, and was unlucky not to score in the first-half with two long-range efforts. He also wasn’t afraid to win the ball in the middle of the park. Ntcham also played a role in Mikey Johnston’s goal, his pass setting up Johnston’s goal. All in all, it was an excellent performance by the French midfielder.

Celtic fans on social media were impressed with Ntcham’s performance. One fan claimed that he was ‘bossing the game’. Another fan suggested that his performance was on ‘another level’.

Here are some of the best reactions from social media to Ntcham’s performance:

Ntcham’s good form has given Neil Lennon what must be a pleasing dilemma. The Hoops boss has watched the player turn in a series of good performances recently. He is well-worth his place in the first-team.

With Celtic having three games in a week coming up, it will be interesting to see how Ntcham is used. On his current form, there seems to be no way he can be left out of the side for the Betfred Cup Final against Rangers next Sunday.

At the moment it looks like Celtic’s best team includes Olivier Ntcham, and as a result he should stay in the side for the foreseeable future.
