Celtic have announced their team that will take on Rennes in the opening group game of the Europa League. The team was revealed on Celtic’s Twitter account.

The big news is that Mohamed Elyounoussi keeps his place in the Hoops line-up after making his debut against Hamilton.

Aside from that it is the strongest Celtic team that could be expected playing. In fact, it is the same team that won at the weekend against Hamilton.

Perhaps one surprise is the omission of Olivier Ntcham, who is on the bench. Also a bit of a surprise is that Greg Taylor is not in the squad. Not a surprise though, is that Scott Sinclair is not in the squad.

Some Celtic fans on social media have had their say on the team selected by Neil Lennon. One fan said ‘why no Ntcham?’ which could be the opinion of many fans.

Here are some of the best reactions from social media to the team selected to face Rennes:

Celtic’s plan for this game should be not to lose. A draw would be a decent result away from home to a team that currently sit second in the French league.

The team that Neil Lennon has selected for the game reflects that. Celtic will be aiming to keep things tight, but that does not mean that the team will go ultra-defensive. Celtic’s forward players are more than good enough to give Rennes a hard time.
