Celtic defender Greg Taylor has won plaudits from some supporters after making a rare appearance for the Bhoys during Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Livingston.

Jonny Hayes was again preferred by Neil Lennon to start at left-back against the visitors. However, the Irishman was forced off early in the second half due to a shoulder injury.

With Boli Bolingoli also out of action, the manager turned to Taylor from the bench.

It was a massive opportunity for the Scotland international, who had only managed one appearance in a Celtic jersey this season prior to yesterday.

Showing his pace and a willingness to impact the game in the final third, he impressed on the left flank, linking up well with James Forrest at times throughout the second half.

Coupled with a strong showing for Scotland against Kazakhstan, it’s been a good week for the 22-year-old.

When everyone is fit, it’s likely that Bolingoli will remain first-choice in the position, but Taylor has done his chances of more regular action no harm at all.

Hayes has proven to be a reliable presence in the position, but it’s Taylor who has the long-term potential and the natural game that should see him earn more opportunities as the season goes on.

These fans were certainly left impressed by his contribution, taking to Twitter over the last 24 hours to share their thoughts on his display…
