Some Celtic fans weren't impressed with Moritz Bauer on Saturday

Celtic defender Moritz Bauer has a bit of work to do to convince some fans he is worthy of a regular spot in Neil Lennon’s starting eleven after Saturday’s win over Ross County.

Lennon’s Bhoys emerged as 3-0 victors from the encounter thanks to the influential impact of Odsonne Edouard in the second half.

However, before his double just after the hour mark, it was a bit of a struggle against County, who managed to threaten on multiple occasions in the first half.

If the visitors had taken their chances it could have been a bad afternoon for the Hoops.

Ultimately fans can’t complain too much about a comfortable Scottish Premiership win but it seems that some individuals are not quite living up to expectations.

One player that some supporters felt performed below par was right-back Bauer, who came into the team for the injured Jeremie Frimpong.

The Stoke City loanee has had limited opportunities in a Celtic jersey this season and yesterday was only his eighth start of the season.

Although an energetic presence on the right flank, he doesn’t quite have the on-the-ball skill of Frimpong nor the electric turn of pace.

The good news is that Lennon confirmed yesterday that despite being stretchered off away to Kilmarnock, Frimpong’s injury isn’t thought to be long-term, though he may still be missing from Wednesday night’s encounter against St Johnstone.

These fans will be hoping Frimpong returns as soon as possible, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on Bauer’s Saturday display…
