Celtic fans were not the only set of supporters left impressed by the performance of goalkeeper Fraser Forster on Sunday.

It seems that some Southampton supporters also enjoyed his display.

Neil Lennon signed Forster on loan from Saints during the summer transfer window, years after moving to the English Premier League side from Celtic Park.

Although he enjoyed a good few seasons of regular action at St Mary’s, leading to England call ups and caps, he eventually fell out of favour.

For an extended spell, he wasn’t even making the bench on matchdays, which likely eventually prompted his return to Glasgow.

Under his old manager Lennon and goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods though, he’s thrived.

That was never more evident than against Rangers at Hampden yesterday, where an inspired performance helped the Hoops pick up a tenth successive domestic trophy.

At this point, Celtic would be crazy not to try and pursue some kind of permanent deal for the player, but whether Southampton will be open to that remains to be seen.

It certainly seems that some Saints fans are keen on him returning to England, taking to Twitter over the last 24 hours to share their thoughts…
