St Mirren clash looks an ideal opportunity for rare Timothy Weah start

It is slightly disappointing how little Timothy Weah has featured for Celtic since arriving on loan from PSG in January.

Weah has made 12 appearances for the Hoops so far, but he has made the starting line-up on only two occasions. That doesn’t seem enough for a player of his talents.

A rare start on the cards?

However, he could well have a rare start for the Hoops against St Mirren on Wednesday night.

It seems likely that Neil Lennon will ring the changes following the recent 2-1 win over Rangers. A lot of players will be exhausted after such a frenetic game. As a result, a few squad players could well start against St Mirren.

Weah could well be one of those players.

Deserves a chance

He deserves a chance to show interim manager Neil Lennon what he can do. He is yet to start a game since Lennon took over from Brendan Rodgers.

Perhaps a good performance from Weah will encourage Lennon to give the player more chances in the weeks to come.

On the other hand, if Weah is left out against St Mirren, his prospects of featuring for the rest of the season look remarkably slim.

It would be disappointing if Weah returned to PSG in the summer without Celtic fans seeing the best of him. As long as he doesn’t get on the pitch though, that is likely to be the case.
