Stephen Robinson reveals cup final preparation
Cup final day is a big moment for everyone affiliated to the two clubs involved.
For the Buddies, it will be a relatively short trip from Paisley to Mount Florida, but some may opt to change their routine.
Not for Robinson and his side though, with the Buddies boss revealing that they will be treating it like any other game after rejecting the chance to stay in a hotel.
“The boys are not going with suits,” he said. “They don’t want them. They want it to be a normal day. They want to turn up and have their normal pre-match.
“They don’t want to stay in a hotel. They had that choice; it was available to them. The club would have put things on for them but they wanted it to be basic, to be normal.
“For the semi-final [against Motherwell], we came here, had our meeting, ate pre-match at home. We didn’t stay at a hotel.
We will leave on the bus from here. It’s very normal and that’s what they wanted – I agree with them.
“Sometimes you can get a lot of nervous energy in your head. If it becomes a normal day, then you make it a normal day and you get in the best frame of mind to go and get a result.”
St Mirren’s run to the Premier Sports Cup final
Unlike Celtic, St Mirren have had to get to the final the long way to get to the Premier Sports Cup final.
They began their campaign in the group stages and got through by topping Group D before knockout victories against Hearts and Kilmarnock.
