Supporters utterly perplexed with Celtic decision as Bhoys miss big chance to pressure rivals vs Livingston

Celtic supporters have been left utterly perplexed why Giorgos Giakoumakis was the man on penalty duties against Livingston today.

The Greek striker stepped up in stoppage time to hit a penalty that could and should have given us a victory against the West Lothian side. However, his effort was dismal and it has left big questions to be answered.

Josip Juranovic has been the designated penalty taker on the pitch so far this season, netting fine efforts against Real Betis and St Johnstone.

Quite why he wasn’t given the duties is something only the manager Ange Postecoglou and the players involved can answer. And we’ll hope to get them after today’s game.

The 0-0 result means Celtic have missed a significant chance to put real pressure on Rangers, who don’t play until tomorrow away to Motherwell.

Today was supposed to be one we went to the top of the table, but Livingston remain a bogey team for us. We just couldn’t test the goalkeeper all day despite having a massive 85% of the possession.

We can only hope Juranovic is reinstated to penalty duties going forward. I doubt Giakoumakis will be taking one for a while.

These fans were gutted with the result and the penalty decision in particular, taking to social media this afternoon to share their thoughts…
