The old Tom Rogic is back and it is thrilling; Celtic fans go wild for his display vs Aberdeen

Ah, Tom Rogic. Our old friend. You are back.

The Australian attacking midfielder has been showing promising signs for Celtic over the last two weeks, but today at Hampden against Aberdeen, he made himself indispensable.

It’s harrowing to think we almost sold him for a low seven-figure fee during the summer transfer window.

At the time it made some sort of sense – he hadn’t kicked a ball for ages and many of his appearances over the last two years have looked laboured.

However, as a focal point in this Neil Lennon team, he must stay and the coaching staff must protect his fitness at all costs.

Rogic was the dynamic spark that Celtic built their 2-0 winning performance around today. Especially in the first half.

On the ball, he was constantly threatening. Off the ball, Aberdeen were still scared of him, freeing up space for others to make an impact.

He visibly tired in the second half and was eventually substituted off but when he provides moments of magic like his chipped assist for Mohamed Elyounoussi, than that’s not a problem for me.

I need this Rogic in the team as often as possible. He makes such a difference to our direct attacking play and can start to build fearsome partnerships with Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie and Elyounoussi.

Hopefully, Lennon thinks similarly.
