The campaign to keep Mohamed Elyounoussi at Celtic only builds momentum the more he plays.
Tricky Norwegian winger Elyounoussi has enjoyed a fruitful spell of late, scoring against both Rangers and Falkirk. With time running out on his second loan deal at Celtic, many supporters are clamouring to sign him permanently.
A report in the Athletic claimed that Southampton were going to take their time deciding over the 26-year-old. On current evidence though, Celtic absolutely need to act. After 53 minutes, he scored another of his patented, curled finishes. Prior to that, he’d been involved in all of Celtic’s attacking play, providing real width and incisive pass.
On a vintage afternoon for the Bhoys, Elyounoussi was crucial. On the opposite wing from James Forrest, he was relentlessly aggressive, drawing defenders wide and making life difficult for Nicky Devlin and Livingston. With an assist and two goals, it was an outstanding effort from the diminutive Norwegian winger.
Supporters recognise his value, it’s fair to say.
