Benjamin Nygren is pure quality

Celtic have been poor in the transfer market this summer in general, but their acquisition of Benjamin Nygren has to be applauded.

The £2m star was deployed on the right wing for the first time this season, a position he is familiar with having played there for FC Nordsjælland.

Nygren was the best player on the park and scored two goals to inspire Celtic to victory.

His first was a tap-in after Yang’s shot was saved by the Livingston goalkeeper, but his second was a thing of beauty into the top corner. What a talent.

‘Sack the board’ chanting continued

Celtic fans were furious inside Parkhead on Wednesday against Kairat as they directed their anger towards the club’s hierarchy.

They chanted ‘sack the board’ several times during and after the 0-0 draw – and it was heard again on three occasions versus Livingston.

Both Michael Nicholson and Peter Lawwell were in attendance to see the Green Brigade unveil a stinging eight-word message for them.

Brendan Rodgers rotates his starting XI

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers made EIGHT changes to the starting line-up with the likes of Callum McGregor, Kieran Tierney and Cameron Carter-Vickers rested.

Dane Murray was excellent at centre-back as he helped keep a clean sheet, while Hayato Inamura impressed at left-back.

Paulo Bernardo was comfortable as the No.6 in the team, with striker Shin Yamada coming close to scoring on a few occasions.

Nygren was the standout player, but the ‘reserve team’ restored hope and confidence heading into the massive Kairat Almaty second leg on Tuesday.
