Celtic made it into the group stages of the Europa League after a 4-1 win over AIK in Sweden. It was an intriguing night for the Hoops, as the attack performed well but the defence didn’t.
The Hoops went ahead in the game thanks to a superb goal from James Forrest, before Sebastian Larsson equalised from the penalty spot. Just a minute later the Hoops regained the lead thanks to Mikey Johnston, as his shot was fumbled over the line by Oscar Linner.
The Hoops added to their goal tally late on, as Christopher Jullien scored his first goal for the club. Then Lewis Morgan headed home his first goal for the club. Therefore, the Hoops defeated the Swedish champions 6-1 on aggregate.
Here are three things we learned from Celtic’s win in Sweden:
HOOPS SUFFER TWO POTENTIALLY SERIOUS BLOWS

The last thing Celtic would have wanted before Sunday’s trip to Ibrox were any injuries to important players. Unfortunately, the Hoops suffered a blow in either half of the game. Both Kristoffer Ajer and Odsonne Edouard had to be taken off with injuries suffered in the game. As yet it is not yet known if either player will miss the game against Rangers. It will be a massive blow if either player was to miss the game, fans will be hoping for good news on this front from Neil Lennon.
ANOTHER BIG GAME, ANOTHER BIG GOAL

James Forrest scored for the Hoops in yet another important game. With Celtic under the cosh in the game, the winger scored with a fine finish to give the Hoops the lead in the game. When it comes to the big games, you can always rely on Forrest. That was the case in Sweden, and it will no doubt be the case when the Hoops travel to Ibrox on Sunday.
ATTACK A WONDER, DEFENCE A CONCERN

Celtic’s attacking play on the night was superb. James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie and Mikey Johnstone caused AIK all sorts of problems. At the other end of the pitch, the Hoops defence looked all over the place at times. Craig Gordon was forced into some key saves, as the Hoops managed to eventually get control of the tie. Once the defence is settled, the Hoops can look forward to a good season.
