There is one player at the moment who is the talk of the Celtic support. That player is teenage prodigy Karamoko Dembele.
Dembele made his first-team debut in the 2-1 win over Hearts on Sunday, and he turned in a fearless performance.
Such was his performance that it has been suggested that he could be involved in the Scottish Cup Final. Indeed, even Callum McGregor thinks that being involved in such a big game wouldn’t faze him.
Should not be involved
However, it is time for a bit of realism to come in. Dembele will not be near the first-team squad for the cup final.
It is alright playing in a dead rubber league game, but it is another matter entirely to play in a game which will decide if the Hoops clinch the ‘treble treble’.
Dembele undeniably has a big future at the club. However, Neil Lennon will not want to throw the player into such a big game so early in his career.
Detrimental if he has a poor game
It could be detrimental to his Hoops career should he have a bad game on such a huge occasion. Therefore, it would be best if Dembele is kept out of the side until next season.
However, Dembele should still be involved on the day, and perhaps should travel to Hampden with the team. That will give him the experience of a big occasion. But as for playing in the cup final, that is too early. Hopefully he will have many cup final appearances for Celtic in the future.
