Good news has been in short supply for Celtic fans in recent weeks. The result against Cluj and poor performance against Dunfermline made sure of that.
However, there was some good news for the Hoops support ahead of the Europa League play-off clash against AIK.
The Evening Times revealed that mercurial midfielder Tom Rogic was back in first-team training. It might be a gamble for the Hoops but Rogic should be in the squad to take on AIK.
Game is vitally important
Normally it would be a risk to involve a player who has not featured so far this season due to injury. However, this tie against AIK is vitally important to the club.
The Hoops’ future plans for the rest of the summer transfer window could depend on getting a good result in the first leg tie.
Therefore, Neil Lennon should gamble and select Rogic on the bench at least for the game against AIK.
Abilities that few in the game have
When Rogic is on form, he has unique qualities that few Scottish football are able to match. His ability to pick out a pass is second to none.
Even a brief cameo from Rogic could be enough to swing the game in Celtic’s favour, or it could put the finishing touches to a victory.
Playing Rogic is a gamble, but it is one that the Hoops may have to take if they want to secure European football.
