Celtic academy coach Tommy McIntyre hailed the duo of Mikey Johnston and Jack Aitchison after the Hoops defeated Rangers 3-2 to win the Glasgow Cup.
McIntyre felt that the duo – who both scored in the game – made a huge difference for the Bhoys.
“Outstanding”

“Jack Aitchison and Mikey Johnston were outstanding. You could see the maturity from Jack, and he caused Rangers problems” he disclosed to the Evening Times.
“It was a big loss for him to come off, but we didn’t want to take any risks with him.”

Johnston’s goal in particular was a good one, a free-kick which was just out of reach of the goalkeeper.
Intriguing times ahead
It will be intriguing to see if Johnston features more for the Hoops between now and the end of the season. Aitchison can’t, as he is currently on loan at Alloa.

But Johnston could be in the Celtic squad for the last few weeks of the season. Indeed, should the Hoops win the title at Pittodrie on Saturday, Johnston could well feature in the last league game of the season, against Hearts.
That would give him a chance to impress ahead of next season, which could be the year both players make the breakthrough for the Hoops.
For now though, both players can be satisfied that they helped the Hoops defeat their bitter rivals.
