Celtic’s squad is getting stronger as the weeks pass and Brendan Rodgers is able to call upon a number of players that he couldn’t last week away to Motherwell and at home to Lazio.
Cameron Carter-Vickers comes into starting contention for Saturday’s match against Kilmarnock after his cameo off the bench versus Lazio on Wednesday night.
The USA international will be desperate to shake off his late error that gifted the Italians a Champions League victory. If he’s fit enough it is likely he’ll start.
Joe Hart is also again eligible for the Scottish Premiership after missing the trip to Fir Park following his sending-off against Livingston. He started against Lazio and will surely be in place again at Celtic Park.
Meanwhile, two players suspended for that Lazio clash – Gustaf Lagerbielke and Odin Thiago Holm – could be included in Saturday’s match squad. However, they face an uphill battle to actually make it into the starting eleven.
Liam Scales has been in terrific form and should partner either Carter-Vickers or Nat Phillips in defence, while it seems unlikely Brendan Rodgers will break up his first-choice midfield.
Elsewhere, Luis Palma could make his first-ever league start for the club. He scored off the bench against the Steelmen last weekend and was almost the hero on Wednesday night, too. With Hyunjun Yang not really hitting his stride, tomorrow’s match looks perfect for Palma to start.
While Maik Nawrocki, Stephen Welsh and Liel Abada remain out of action, there are no fresh injury concerns and it leaves Rodgers with a pretty competitive squad to choose from.
That has hopefully served the team well in training building up to the visit of Derek McInnes’ team. They’ll be physical and competitive but the Bhoys are rightfully favourites to pick up all three points.
