Celtic fans on social media felt sorry for Callum McGregor in the Champions League qualifier against Cluj. The Hoops midfielder played at left-back, which he has played before, but it is not his best position.

Indeed, he was fortunate not to concede a penalty early on in the game after what looked to be a foul on Ciprian Deac. He also could have done better for the goal which gave Cluj the lead.

Celtic lost 4-3, and for the second season in a row will need to be content with a place in the Europa League, if they can navigate the play-off round.

Hopefully Neil Lennon will not repeat the error that he made against Cluj. From now on McGregor must only play in the centre of midfield, or not be selected at all.
