Brendan Rodgers was fully embraced by the Celtic support today after they witnessed a 4-1 thrashing of Hearts at Tynecastle.

It’s fair to say that Rodgers’ return to the Bhoys was contentious for a section of the support due to the nature of his exit to Leicester City in 2019.

However, a terrace staple from his first spell was given a loud and proud airing towards the end of the superb display against Hearts, and then again after the full-time whistle. You can see a video via X user @Adam67G or embedded below.

Had you said six months ago that Celtic fans would be serenading Rodgers in such a manner, you would have been written off as crazy. But that’s the wild world of football sometimes.

He deserves plaudits for the team’s start to the Scottish Premiership season. Celtic remain unbeaten and have travelled to some tough away venues, with limited Bhoys fans in attendance, to pick up some impressive wins. Today was one of them.

It’s worth noting that fans in attendance today are the club’s hardcore support. They are those who qualified for stringent criteria to be put into a ballot for tickets. It’s a significant moment to see the manager and the support so unified.

It’s an indication that exciting times are ahead for the team. Seven points clear and with improvement clear to see from week-to-week, the Bhoys are on an upward curve under Rodgers’ watch.

There are tougher tests ahead, of course. The UEFA Champions League group stages is proving difficult and won’t get any easier on Wednesday nigh.

However, after a difficult summer, Rodgers is again taking Celtic in the right direction. And that’s easy to get behind.
