Celtic fans really set the tone for a big day inside Celtic Park this afternoon with a stunning pre-match display honouring club greats and inspiring the current generation.

A full-stadium tifo organised by The Green Brigade and paid for by donations from the wider Celtic support created a mosaic of legendary managers Jock Stein and Willie Maley at both ends of the ground, with the message “Stand On The Shoulder Of Giants” emblazoned across the entire North Stand.

As the teams walked out, with flames flying high and The Celtic Song being played over the tannoy, it was impossible not to be impressed. Sky Sports uploaded footage of that exact moment on social media earlier today, which you can see embedded below or via this link.

If you’re just getting home after a day of celebration, you might not have even seen the full effect of the display. It’s hard to get a full sense of the entire picture at the stadium. It truly is one for the ages.

Days like today should never be taken for granted and supporters going the extra mile to create iconic imagery makes them all the more memorable.

We’ve seen many full stadium displays at Celtic Park now and more are likely on the way next season as the club qualifies for the UEFA Champions League and fan groups continue to raise cash for big occasions.

No doubt the Celtic fans will be in fine voice and provide plenty of colour next week at Hampden, where the Bhoys take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup Final.

It’ll be important for supporters to again set the tone for a strong performance. It’s clear the connection between fans and players can have an impact on the game and help the Bhoys start on the front foot.

If we do that against the Highland side, there could be no stopping our march to the treble.
