Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou will tell his players not to let nights like this pass them by, ahead of the fixture against Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bhoys are testing themselves against one of the best outfits in Germany in front of a sold-out Celtic Park. It’s the kind of occasion these players should live for.

And that will be the manager’s big message to this squad prior to heading out for the big kick-off.

Speaking to The Glasgow Times, he said: “You are testing yourself against the best, that’s the kind of message we give to the players. The worst thing you can do in a game like this is to let it pass you by without really making an impact or taking everything on board.

“You can just go in there and try to survive and just get through the game and then you miss a great experience of testing yourself whether it’s me or the players. For me I look forward to these contests.

“These are the games you want to be involved in and hopefully be successful in and most importantly these are the games you want to test yourself in. That will be the message to the players tomorrow night.”

The manager, like every other Celtic fan in attendance tonight, will be looking for the team to get off to a bright, assertive start.

That will take plenty of guts and confidence, but what good is a 60,000 crowd if it doesn’t give you guts and confidence?

The game is there to be won for Celtic tonight, make no mistake. Better teams than Bayer have come knocking over the years. It won’t be easy, but if these players can seize the night as Postecoglou wants them to do, anything is achievable this evening.
