Celtic will look to go 18 points clear of Rangers with a win at Dundee tonight.
Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to take advantage of the fact that Rangers don’t play until Thursday night and the Celtic manager knows that stretching his lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table will heap more pressure on Ibrox boss, Philippe Clement.
And it seems that Rodgers has had all that in mind as the Celtic manager announces his starting lineup to face Dundee.
- Celtic Starting XI: Schmeichel, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Trusty, Taylor, McGregor, Bernardo, McCowan, Yang, Idah, Kyogo
- Substitutes: Sinisalo, Scales, Palma, Kuhn, Valle, Kenny, Engels, Hatate, Ralston
Celtic’s win up at Ross County has obviously given Rodgers some food for thought after Kyogo Furuhashi seemed to thrive in a new role for the Hoops as he resumes that role tonight.
The Japanese striker hit a brace as he looked sharp in front of goal. However, Adam Idah drew a blank as young Johnny Kenny shined in his Celtic debut with a 20-minute cameo appearance.
But there is one big question some Celtic fans are asking and it seems many are unhappy with one decision the Hoops boss has taken.

Arne Engels omission has Celtic fans in a spin
The decision to drop Arne Engels has caused a bit of a stir with the Celtic fans as one said, “Engels benched is a war crime.” and another said, “Why drop Engels? Best player on the park for the last 4 games.”
Another Celtic fan was unhappy, “No Engels is a joke.” as another said, “Engels dropped???”
One Celtic fan had another player in mind for rotation:
No Engels is a bit of a mystery but maybe Brendan Rodgers fancied giving another one of his players the chance to win some champagne tonight as the Belgian has been red hot over the last four games.
Chris Sutton highlights Dundee’s draw with Rangers as a warning to Celtic
Chris Sutton recognises the challenge that a visit to the City of Discovery brings and has warned Celtic about the danger of Dundee after their performance against Rangers less than a week ago.
Sutton told Sky Sports, “I think we certainly can make a case for Dundee under Tony Docherty’s team. Since he’s been at the club, they overachieved last season with a top-six finish, and they’re pushing for a top-six finish this season.
“We saw the game against Rangers, where they had a really nice balance, they defended deep, and then they had that threat on the counter-attack.
“Simon Murray never stops running and Adewumi, a player I haven’t seen too much of in on loan has been outstanding for Tony this season, they’ve got him to the end of the season.
“He’s from Burnley, but he looked really sharp so they will carry a threat to the Celtic.”
The fans will be hoping to head home back to Glasgow with all three points and to create even more daylight between Celtic and Rangers at the top of the table as Rodgers’ relentless defence of the title continues.
