Celtic stand on the verge of winning their eighth title in a row. It could be clinched this Sunday against Hibs, but it is set to be confirmed sooner rather than later.

When the title is finally won, the reaction from all at Celtic Park will be one of relief as much as celebration. This has undeniably been the toughest title of the eight in a row Celtic have won.

Players must have been upset

The main reason for that: the departure of Brendan Rodgers to join Leicester City, in the middle of a title race. You wouldn’t have guessed it from the results since he left, but Rodgers’ departure must have badly upset the players.

Another huge reason for the difficulty of the season is the injuries that the Hoops have had to deal with. Almost all the Hoops’ most important players have been missing for a length of time.

The likes of Scott Brown, Kieran Tierney, Callum McGregor and Odsonne Edouard have all missed plenty of games this season.

Despite these pitfalls, the Hoops have continued to prosper. Eight in a row could only be one game away. And then the celebrations can begin at Celtic Park. It’s been a very hard season, but the work is almost complete.
