Despite Celtic’s excellent 1-1 draw against Cluj in the first leg of the Champions League qualifier, Neil Lennon will know that the tie is far from over.

Celtic are undoubtedly favourites going into the second leg. However, at the moment the tie is in the balance. One early goal for Cluj could change everything, which is why Celtic’s approach to the game should be all-out attack.

The last thing Celtic want to do is appear to be tentative and apprehensive on a night where European football up to Christmas could be clinched.

Therefore, Celtic should go for broke. Play both Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard up-front. They are more than capable of scoring the early goals which could clinch the tie for the Hoops.

Strength of the side is in attack

At the moment, Celtic’s strength is in attack. They have scored 12 goals in the first two league games of the season. For the match against Cluj, they should focus on their strengths.

Should the Hoops advance to take on Slavia Prague in the play-off round, then Neil Lennon’s side can play a bit more cautious.

The game against Cluj is not the time for that though. That should be about the Hoops putting on a performance. The best way for this Celtic side to do that is to focus on attack. Therefore, the time is right for Edouard and Griffiths to start and fire the Hoops to the play-off round.
