Wolves have made a signing that will go down well in Dublin, just a week before they face Celtic there.
Brendan Rodgers‘ Hoops are currently in Japan where they will face Gamba Osaka on Saturday. On Monday, the Celts will travel back to Glasgow and continue pre-season preparations.
We’re due to face Wolves at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 29 July at 2pm.
Celtic are likely to have a large support in Dublin given the club’s Irish links. But Wolves also have a strong affiliation with Ireland, which has only grown over the past 24 hours.
That’s because they’ve completed the signing of 36-time Republic of Ireland cap Matt Doherty.
The 31-year-old played his football at Molineux for a decade before moving off to Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid in recent years.

He has now returned to his old home, signing a three-year deal in a popular reunion for the Premier League club’s fans. (Wolves)
Wolves are due to face Porto on Tuesday night, but if Doherty doesn’t feature there he could make his second debut against us in Dublin.
Celtic, meanwhile, will be a week further down the road in terms of preparations by that stage.
The Wolves match arrives just seven days prior to our league opener against Ross County so we’ve really not gone long to go until the juicy stuff starts.
