Celtic have delighted fans with a look at today’s 4-1 win over Portuguese top-flight side Portimonense.
The Bhoys played the same team on Wednesday night but nothing was seen or heard about that 0-0 draw outside of unofficial updates from fans on the ground in Portugal.
Reo Hatate, Liel Abada, Ben Summers and Hyeongyu Oh were all on the scoresheet in this Saturday morning win. You can see all of the highlights via this YouTube link or embedded below.
Hatate netted a nicely taken penalty for the opener after fine pressing work from Daizen Maeda to force the opposition goalkeeper into a blatant foul in the box.
Portimonense were then awarded a penalty of their own but it was saved low to the Celtic right-hand side by goalkeeper Joe Hart.
A quality combination between Alexandro Bernabei and Rocco Vata then led to Celtic’s second. The Argentinian poked a lovely through ball to the winger, who then found the supporting Bernabei in return. The left-back clipped in a lovely cross for Liel Abada to finish at the back post.
Strong Maeda pressing then forced the goalkeeper into another mistake, with Callum McGregor and Liel Abada creating a chance for young Ben Summers to coolly finish.

Oh’s finish was straightforward, coming from a low Ben McPherson cross. The youngster had latched on to a quality through ball from Stephen Welsh to break through the Portuguese defence.
Overall there are strong signs the Bhoys are looking sharp and working as hard as ever, as you’d expect. These results mean little but Brendan Rodgers was pleased with what he witnessed. You can read what he had to say post-match right here.
