BBC Radio Scotland pundit Michael Stewart was in disbelief live on air tonight when told that new Celtic signing Reo Hatate only cost £1.4m.
Hatate produced an exquisite debut performance for the Bhoys against Hibs tonight, especially in the first half.
His technical ability, vision and work rate were all on full display as he ran the show in the middle of the park against Shaun Maloney’s side. On that showing, we’ve won a watch with this deal.

Obviously there’s a long way to go and he needs to show consistency, but the gut feeling on this one is very strong.
Radio Scotland couldn’t stop with the praise tonight, with Stewart in particular waxing lyrical about his ability.
Speaking to the broadcaster at half-time, he said [20:39]: “You look at that first-half performance from Hatate and the guy is a top-class player. There are no two ways about that. Celtic have signed an incredibly talented player.”
When told how much Hatate was signed for, Stewart continued: “You’re kidding me on? Sorry, £1.4m for Hatate? If you can get a player like that for £1.4m, that is incredible.”
The hype levels will go through the roof regarding Hatate now. Celtic supporters might be even be accused of overboard.
But you know what? I don’t really care. Football is about getting excited sometimes and there’s nothing wrong with revelling in that kind of display from Hatate.
The first half performance was worth shouting about whether you are a Celtic fan or a neutral pundit. Scottish football has a new emerging star.
