Youssouf Mulumbu has hinted at his Celtic frustration and expanded on his goals between now and the end of the season.
The Kilmarnock loan star is at Rugby Park until the end of the campaign. This came after a frustrating first half of the season at Parkhead. Mulumbu only made three appearances at the Hoops, with just one coming in domestic football.
But it’s not been an overly fantastic start to his time in Ayrshire either. Killie have lost to both Rangers and Livingston in Mulumbu’s early matches with Steve Clarke’s side. Granted, this came after a respectable draw with Steven Gerrard’s men.

And the midfielder has hinted in the Scottish Sun that he had a frustrating start to the season.
“It’s been a hard season for me personally, but if I could help Kilmarnock qualify for Europe that would make up for a lot.
“That’s the aim, but I need to show it out there on the pitch. We have to regroup and take the games one by one.
“I’m confident we’ll kick on from here as we have so many quality players in the squad. There’s no doubt we will finish in the top half. We just have to score the goal or win the game that turns everything around again.”
Needs to impress soon
Mulumbu missed a massive opportunity against Rangers. A good performance at Ibrox would’ve caught the attention of many Celtic supporters at the very least. Whether it would’ve been enough to lure Brendan Rodgers’ eyes, however, is up for debate.
But Mulumbu has always been viewed by Rodgers as a support player. Chances of him being handed a reprieve in the summer feel unlikely. Instead, Rodgers seems to prefer a more dynamic set-up in his midfield.

There’s no denying the Congolese midfielder can still offer Celtic something. But if he’s going to prove that he could be a regular here, his displays at Rugby Park have to be standout and more consistent too.
He’s only played three games with his new club so far, but at the moment he isn’t doing enough. It’s not been the strong start to life at Rugby Park that we all expected.
Make no mistake, time is running out for the big man to get his act together.
