Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has been raving about the attitude and quality he sees from Jeremie Frimpong every day in Lennoxtown training, speaking to club magazine The Celtic View this week (Vol 56, issue 4, page 13).
Frimpong has been an emerging talent at the Scottish champions for almost a year and as time has gone on he’s become a valued member of the starting eleven and dressing room.
Scoring his third goal for Celtic on the opening day of the Scottish Premiership season, he is now set to have another stellar campaign at the Bhoys, though has fierce competition for his place from Israeli international Hatem Abd Elhamed.
The experienced defender is now fit again after long absences and impressed against KR Reykjavik midweek.
However, if Frimpong continues to show the kind of attitude in training that Christie describes, he should win a place in the team more often than not.
The attacking midfielder told The Celtic View this week (Vol 56, issue 4, page 13): “Jez is a wee firecracker, he’s some boy, and he’s a funny guy!
“His attitude is brilliant and he trains at 100 per cent every session. If you kick him, he just gets straight back up.
“I try and do that at training, to be fair, I’ll maybe leave a bit on him – not to toughen him up, per se, but to make things harder than they should be for him, because I know he’ll rise to the challenge and go above it.
“He just laughs it off and bounces back to his feet. I love his attitude.”
Frimpong adds an attacking element to the Celtic right flank that is thrilling to watch and his enthusiasm for the Bhoys, his teammates and playing, in general, is also a joy.

He still has a bit of developing to do on the defensive side of his game and his consistency from week to week, but it’s important to remember he is still just 19.
In Lennon he has a manager that trusts him and the wider squad appear to love him.
The sky is the limit for the young defender at Celtic and I can’t wait to see how good he can become.
In other news, another teenager is now training with the Celtic senior side every day at Lennoxtown.
