Celtic winger, Luis Palma, was honoured at a prestigious awards ceremony in Honduras last night.
The 23-year-old winger has enjoyed an excellent first season at Celtic so far and whilst his form has dipped of late, what he has done for his club and country was recognised at the 2023 Diez Awards ceremony last night in Honduras.
Diez is one of Honduras’ biggest news media outlets in the country.
This is the eighth year of the awards and the 13 categories range from Best Coach to Best Goal and Palma walked away with the Best Honduran Legionnaire Award 2023 for the second year in a row.
The popular media outlet said of the Celtic winger, “The sensational player of Celtic of Scotland, Luis Palma, won for the second consecutive year the award for the Best Legionnaire after shining in European football; his victory was resounding with 90.95%, with Michaell Chirinos (2.85%) being his pursuer.”
Palma has captured the imagination of his homeland after hitting the headlines with his outstanding contribution to Celtic’s Champions League campaign.
Whilst the Hoops still crashed out bottom of the league, the Honduran’s two goals against Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord lit up the headlines in Honduras.

Palma has also been a hit on the international stage with his country with twelve caps to his name so far.
The Hoops star really rose to prominence when he scored his first goal for his country and was a standout in Honduras’ stunning Nations League campaign this season where they almost knocked out the favourites Mexico in a two-legged dogfight which the Mexicans won through on penalties.
There is little doubt that Palma is a star back in Honduras and if he can find more consistency for Celtic, he could be one that plays a huge part in the clubs future successes over the next few years.
