Why Celtic must make a fast start under their new manager
The current season may still have two games to go and Celtic could have two more trophies to lift, but talk of next season is already on the lips of most supporters.
The search for a new permanent manager means the future suddenly seems more pressing than the here and now. One thing’s for sure, the new Celtic boss won’t have much of a honeymoon period.

Whoever it is will walk in on a bloated but depleted squad in dire need of repair. They’ll have to get to business in the transfer market straight away.
The new manager will also have to make a fast start on the pitch. If Celtic are to make it back to the promised land of the Champions League group stage then they’ll have to win four two-legged qualification ties played over eight weeks.

No margin for error
Domestic football has to be given the same level of care too. Celtic were sloppy at the beginning of their Premiership campaign this season, failing to win six of the first nine away matches. A similar start next year may have serious consequences given the resurgence of our Glasgow rivals.

It’s important that we don’t give Rangers any hope for optimism. They will still drop points next year so if can find some early consistency then it could really help us in the long run.
The same goes for the Betfred Cup too. Brendan Rodgers once commented on how the trophy was the most important for him and his players during his time at the club. He said it gave his side “something tangible to show” for their work.
The new manager could do with making a similar start to the Northern Irishman.
