Celtic’s final day victory over Hearts saw the club move onto 87 points for the Premiership season. They achieved this with 27 wins, 6 draws and 5 defeats – with the vast majority of the dropped points coming on the road.
The Hoops may have had better league campaigns in recent seasons but how do the numbers stack up against the previous seven titles won in this period of dominance.

The numbers
Celtic have had two exceptional league campaigns in the last eight years. Neil Lennon’s final season of his first spell as manager saw the club fall just short of the century as they recorded 99 points from 38 games. Three seasons later, Brendan Rodgers’ Invincibles dropped just a remarkable eight points all season. The Hoops won 34 of their 38 matches in 2016/2017, drawing the other four.
Celtic’s first title of the eight saw the club record 93 points. Despite an awful start under Neil Lennon, we romped to the title – winning 17 successive matches between November and February.

Ronny Deila’s first season saw Celtic record 92 points while in his second we registered 86 – one less than this season.
Celtic have only failed to make 80 points on one occasion in recent years. Our second successive title saw the team get just 79 points from 38 matches. Lennon’s men drew seven and lost seven of their 38 matches that year, with the emphasis placed on a strong European showing.
