Celtic legend Bertie Auld’s personal collection of football jerseys and programmes will be auctioned this coming Thursday 12th October.

Fittingly, the event kicks off at 10:30 and there are some incredible items available for purchase, with a significant amount of money expected to be generated.

Auction house McTear’s have been instructed by Bertie’s son Robert and the rest of the Auld family to auction off 39 lots from the Celtic icon’s personal collection.

Included are shirts that Auld swapped with Nantes and Dukla Prague players on the run to Lisbon in the 1966/67 season. Each are estimated to be sold for between £3,000 and £5,000.

Iconic jerseys are also available from the 1969/70 European Cup run, including Billy Bremner’s Leeds United top from the semi-final and Artur Jorge’s Benfica strip from the second round – both given to Auld after the match. Again, these are expected to be sold for thousands of pounds.

There are other valuable items included too, including a Kenny Dalglish match-worn Scotland top, a pair of Auld’s 1960s-era shorts adorned with his famous number 10 and plenty of notable match programmes, many of which were signed by Bertie himself.

It’s a rare and special opportunity for Celtic collectors to get their hands on some unique items. Lots more information on all of the lots, as well as how to get involved in the auction itself, are available via the McTear’s website.

Auld made 283 appearances for the Bhoys and won a bucket full of trophies, including as an influential remember of the legendary Lisbon Lions. He became popular with generations of Celtic fans due to his strong association with the club through the decades.

His passing less than two years ago was a deeply sad event and thousands turned out for his funeral, demonstrating just how many loved him right into the modern age.

Good luck to his family this week and to all the bidders looking to get their hands on some superb items.
