Celtic stars Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie, Greg Taylor and loanee Jack Hendry have all received call ups to the Scotland squad ahead of the upcoming trio of fixtures for Steve Clarke’s men.
Facing off to Austria, Israel and the Faroe Islands later this month, many Hoops fans will be intrigued to see their heroes cement places in the national set-up. With a major tournament on the horizon for the Tartan Army for the first time since 1998, there is a growing excitement amongst the entirety of Scottish football which Celtic players will hopefully get to be at the forefront of.

Of course, Celtic midfielders McGregor and Christie are pivotal figures within the Hampden side. Having together played major roles in helping their homeland to EURO 2021 in the famous win against Serbia, they will be anticipated to both play some part in all three contests before returning to club duties.

Pleasingly, Greg Taylor has also received recognition for his upturn in performances before sustaining an injury away to Ross County in February. Expected to be back fit for his country, all roads point to the 23-year-old providing support in case Andrew Robertson or former Celt Kieran Tierney succumb to injury. However, due to the length of the break it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Taylor in action at some point.

Intriguingly, Jack Hendry had also earned a much-deserved recall for the Dark Blues after an outstanding campaign on loan at Belgian outfit KV Oostende from Celtic. Given the potential for defenders to leave Parkhead in the summer, Hoops fans will be keen to see what the 25-year-old can do in a Scotland jersey, as he could be a potential first-team starter at Parkhead next season.
His inclusion in Steve Clarke’s squad is something like redemption after being written off as not good enough for the Hoops previously.
Clearly his spell in Belgium is impressing the right people.
