Cameron Carter-Vickers has been speaking about Celtic while away on international duty.
The USA international featured in both of his country’s matches during this FIFA window, playing around 50 minutes in total across two substitute appearances.
It’s been a tough old start to the season for the defender with injuries keeping him out of the majority of Celtic‘s matches.
But he’s come through the international stuff well and will now be looking to become a first-team regular under Brendan Rodgers. He clearly has a lot of love for Celtic.
“It’s a club where there’s always pressure on you,” he told Sporting News in the States. “I think someone like me almost needs that to keep me focused and keep me playing at my highest level week in and week out.
“As a player sometimes, when you’re playing week in and week out, you kinda get into a rhythm of turning up. I don’t think the fans at Celtic allow that, a draw in the league is a disaster for the fans. Once you realise that, you know every game you have to be going 100 percent to win the game, and if you don’t…. be ready.

“My first year at Celtic, when we won the league, we were behind Rangers until about February and it felt like we were always chasing them.
“When we eventually won the league that year, that was obviously super exciting but also a lot of relief because of the pressure of beating them to win the league. But that relief only lasts for five weeks, and then you’ve got to win the next cup or next league.”
It is interesting to hear Carter-Vickers say that he feels he needs the unrelenting pressure of playing for Celtic to keep him moving forward. Perhaps that is his way of saying that a club like Celtic is what he’s always been looking for.

The big defender doesn’t say too much, either on or off the park. However, you can just tell he has loved the past few years of his career. His latest quotes just show how much he understands what we’re about as a club. He was born to play for us.
Carter-Vickers is about as consistent a performer as you’ll find. Whether it’s the Champions League against Real Madrid or the Scottish Cup against Greenock Morton, he brings the same mentality to the pitch.
He is going to be a huge player for us over the coming weeks.
