“A dream come true” – Callum McGregor’s instant reaction to Celtic’s title win

Celtic are now officially crowned champions after the 2-0 win against Hearts at Tynecastle. Second-half goals from Kyogo Furuhashi on the 67th minute and Hyeongyu Oh ten minutes before time secured Celtic’s second title in a row.

In what was a hard-fought victory, Hearts were giving Ange’s men a run for their money in the first half but a red card to Gorgie defender Alex Cochrane made the second half a bit more open and Celtic exploited their extra man advantage.

And when the final whistle eventually was blown, Callum McGregor was absolutely thrilled to pick up his second title in a row as Celtic captain.

Speaking post-match to Sky Sports, when asked how it felt to be a champion again, McGregor said, “Amazing. At the start of the season, this is always the task. It’s always what the club wants. It demands success.

“Over a period of eight games you have to be the best team and the best team will win the league. So happy for the players, the staff and the supporters. Everybody connected with the club. A really special day again.

When asked how this team compares to Brendan Rodgers’ side that won the league at Tynecastle back in 2017, McGregor said, “I think we can get there. I think there’s the makings of a really special team.

“You say when the going gets tough, you have to fight the game out a little bit like we had to do in the first half. So we’ve got that side to us well that you need to have if you want to be champions. And then you see at the end with the quality, we could have probably scored another two or three goals.

“It’s a dream come true for me. It’s such a privilege every day that I come into my work and represent and represent these guys. It’s an absolute pleasure.”

The privilege is all ours Callum. We have been spoiled as Celtic supporters to have had such success over this 23-year period. And it’s all down to having players like the Celtic captain in the ranks.

The second leg of the treble is now complete and the fans can look forward to the Scottish Cup final at the end of the season looking to wrap up a record eighth domestic treble.
