“A real class act”; Celtic fans full of adulation for Scott Sinclair after Parkhead remarks

Celtic treble-treble winner Scott Sinclair has been the subject of an immense level of love from the Hoops support after his appearance on Soccer AM over the weekend.

Sinclair talked up his time at Celtic and admitted that he never realised just how big the club is until he joined. It’s comments the supporters have heard before from previous Parkhead heroes – particularly from those who came up from England.

Sinclair, who signed back in 2016 under Brendan Rodgers, would go on to score 62 goals and bag 34 assists in 167 appearances for the club (Transfermarkt). It’s a remarkable record, and one which stands up against anyone in our treble-treble winning side.

The now Preston winger is still operating in the English Championship, but it’s clear he’s still a highly-adored figure amongst the Hoops support. Here’s a look at some of the reaction to his Soccer AM appearance:

An incredible player – but the right decision to move on

Sinclair achieved so much during his time at Parkhead as mentioned previously, but there was no doubting that his performances dipped massively in his last year with the club.

Yet his knack of continuing to get on the scoresheet or provide direct goal contributions never really left him. Even in his final full season with the club back in the 2018/19 campaign, Sinky managed 23 direct goal contributions in 55 games. For a left-winger, that’s a fine return for a player who wasn’t playing at his peak.

However, despite that, you still couldn’t ignore what you saw from Sinclair in his final six to nine months at the club. As great an asset as he was during the treble-treble era, his all-round displays still dipped.

He seems to have found a new lease of life at Preston, and he’ll surely have an eye set on bagging promotion and tasting Premier League football one more time before he hangs up his boots.

When we look back on Sinclair’s time in Glasgow, you’ll only ever really look at him as the poster boy of a massively successful era for the club. He never lost a single domestic trophy during his spell up here.

Here’s hoping he can continue to be a rousing success with Preston. He deserves any success that comes his way in the next few years.
