Celtic’s new signing Aaron Mooy has just completed his first fan media press conference since signing for the club.
With a lack of obvious cover in the deepest midfield spot, 67 Hail Hail asked Mooy about where he sees himself playing for Celtic going forward.
He said: “I’ve played in different positions throughout my career, I played in a double 6 a lot, also higher up. I’m here to play where the manager puts me – not sure where yet.

“Obviously I’ve played in many different central midfield roles, so wherever the manager needs me I’ll do my very best.”
We also asked Mooy about the potential to work with Celtic’s newest coach, Harry Kewell, who as an Australian football legend would have been a significant influence in the midfielder’s career.
He said: “I’m looking forward to it, Harry obviously had an amazing career as a player and was someone I always looked up to when I was growing up. It’ll be good to get to know him more and try and learn from as well because he’s got a lot of experience, I’m looking forward to it.”
Cover in two positions
Whilst not the most mobile, Mooy’s technical proficiency and the depth of quality in the “8” spots means that he’ll likely cover the “6” position most frequently for Celtic, allowing Callum McGregor a break when necessary.
With James McCarthy likely out of favour, it’s the former Ireland international most at risk of losing his spot in the squad to the Socceroo.
Although it’s likely to be a while before the fans get to see Mooy adorn the famous green and white hoops due to his lack of recent club football, he immediately upgrades the squad and offers a different option in a critical position in the team.
He will also be keen to be in peak condition for when international duty comes calling again for the World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year.
Here’s hoping Mooy’s Celtic move is a productive one for all parties involved.
